Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), an advanced nuclear technology company, and newcleo, a European developer of advanced nuclear reactors, have entered into a joint agreement to develop advanced fuel fabrication and manufacturing infrastructure in the United States. The partnership, subject to customary approvals, includes up to $2 billion in investment from a newcleo-affiliated investment vehicle. Additionally, Sweden’s Blykalla, a leader in advanced nuclear technology, is exploring co-investment opportunities and plans to procure fuel-related services from the projects.

The collaboration aims to establish multiple U.S.-based projects under federal oversight, fostering transatlantic cooperation to enhance energy security and build a resilient nuclear fuel ecosystem. Details on specific projects and investment allocations will be outlined in forthcoming definitive agreements.

This partnership strengthens the ability of all parties to meet the growing global demand for clean energy. The initiative includes co-investment in and co-location of fuel fabrication facilities, with a focus on repurposing surplus plutonium in compliance with U.S. safety and security standards.

“Fissioning surplus plutonium is the best way to eliminate a legacy liability while creating an abundant near-term fuel source,” said Jacob DeWitte, co-founder and CEO of Oklo. “It can accelerate the deployment of multiple gigawatts of advanced reactors and serve as a bridge fuel until uranium enrichment and recycling scale up.”

Stefano Buono, founder and CEO of newcleo, added, “This strategic partnership demonstrates that energy independence relies on advanced fuels and an integrated closed-loop fuel cycle. newcleo and its partners are committed to adding value to transatlantic cooperation, proving that the U.S. and Europe can lead the way in clean, safe, and secure energy.”

The partnership highlights newcleo’s and Blykalla’s interest in the U.S. market while supporting the domestic expansion of Oklo’s advanced fuel and fast-reactor technologies. By channeling large-scale transatlantic investments into the American advanced nuclear industry, the collaboration underscores the potential for allied innovation to drive energy leadership and security.

“This agreement to integrate newcleo’s advanced fuel expertise into Oklo’s reactors and invest $2 billion into American infrastructure is a significant win for President Donald J. Trump’s American Energy Dominance Agenda,” said Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the National Energy Dominance Council. “This administration is committed to enhancing energy security, creating American jobs, and ensuring the U.S. remains a global leader in energy production and innovation.”

The partnership aligns private capital with federal priorities, accelerating advanced nuclear deployment, bolstering U.S. energy security, and strengthening transatlantic cooperation.
